Russian designer Vika Gazinskaya is photographed in a candid fashion sporting none other than her own designs, stating that it is an “essential expression of [her] creative process….[and the] perfect way to demonstrate [her] own designs.” I really admire her for doing so, as whether it is sure to the dominance of male’s within the high fashion designing industry, the prospect of designers wearing their own designs is something rather rare. The Rodarte duo recently said that they would never wear their designs as they rather remain distant from their designs as “blank canvas’” in order to not be “limited by the things that [they] personally want” (Kate). This is understandable, yet there is something appealing about a designer who lives through and in their designs.
Pairing her tropical fern printed blazer and skirt suit with a Nike cap, awfully laid back Led Zeppelin t-shirt, navy overcoat and ornate earings an inspiring look is created. Her sportswear infatuation stems from it being “so design-driven and graphic that it’s impossible not to desire to wear it, especially to pair with something completely opposite!” The fashion world sure seems to agree, with sport-luxe seeping into collections worldwide,
