Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2012.

Raf’s debut for Dior blew me away in such a way (forever lagging live-stream aside) through his fabulous spectacle of the ‘New’ post-Galliano/Gaytten Dior that I have literally been left stunned for weeks.

Well not really, but I’ve just been crazy busy to even attempt a review of any sort. The millions of flowers embedded into the walls of the presentation venue were enough to get my heart beating fast. Pun’s aside, the orchids, delphinium, golden rose and a bountious supply of roses of the maestro’s manifested Garden of Eden certainly marked a new blooming stage for the historic house.

For all those who were enthralled by Raf’s last collection for his beloved Jil Sander like myself, the natural gravitation that he has been able to maintain in his design aesthetic is very visible. Almost referencing Dior’s ‘New Look’ through the fresh yet always minimalist, nostalgic Jil Sander collection, Raf has truly tackled his new role at the house of Dior beginning with stripping it down to it’s very fundamentals.

Despite his infamous strictly minimalist aesthetic, Raf brought a new meaning to the term ‘haute couture’, switching Galliano’s elaborate creations with his more subdued designs.
