Gucci Fall 2012; In sensual silhouettes combining influences of nineteenth century romanticism with that of the femme fatale Gucci woman, Frida Giannini’s Fall 2012 collection for Gucci harboured a “dramatic sensuality” of tres decadent dark glamour. To label the collection as purely ‘vampy’ could be an understatement, yet its saturated colour palette of charcoal, dark green, brown and plum tones provide the collection with a moody yet lustful physique. Donning deep purple hued stained lips, bleached eyebrows, cascading waved hair there was a definite nymph like quality to the collection thus counterbalancing those uber-masculine vibes.

“Not cute-romantic; it has a confidence,” spoke Giannini, which she showcased through her descending finale of floor-sweeping gowns in their darkly angelic appliqué leaf detailing heightening the shows dramatic nature. Though printed silks, feather work, rich tapestry and plush velvets Giannini yet again forged the ‘Gucci decadence’ which this time brought a poetic opulence. The femme fatale persona was reinforced by pieces such as the narrow black velvet skirts which beheld high slits and the billowing gowns leaving us bewitched with her c’est magnifique collection,

with love.
